Export problem

Snapchat videos split into pieces

A one-minute concert video becomes six 10-second files, scattered across your gallery. That is how Snapchat records long videos, and the export delivers them as they are.

Updated October 2026

Why the videos are split

Snapchat records long videos in chunks of about 10 seconds. In the app it plays them back to back; in the export, each chunk becomes its own file. In a real export of 1,720 memories, 128 videos were cut into 298 pieces this way.

Nothing in the file names says which pieces belong together: you have to go by their recording times, which follow each other closely.

The fixes

By hand
Find the pieces that follow each other, then join them in a video editor (iMovie, Clipchamp, CapCut). Doable for a few videos, slow for dozens.
A script
FFmpeg can stitch pieces together. You still have to group them correctly, and keep the stickers and the date.
Rembobino
It spots the pieces that follow each other and joins them into one video, stickers and captions included, on the date, local time and place where the video started. On iPhone, Mac or Windows; on iPhone and Mac, with no duplicates of what Snapchat already put in Photos. The free trial restores 250 memories, then €5.99 once.

Every option, side by side: the comparison.

Frequently asked questions

Does quality drop when the pieces are joined?

The pieces are re-encoded once into a single high-quality video. The original files stay in your .zip files.

What if a piece is missing?

If the export is incomplete (a forgotten .zip), Rembobino says so before it starts: get every file Snapchat offers.

My videos are on the wrong date too

That is another effect of the export: Snapchat Memories on the wrong date.
