How to save your Snapchat Memories: every option compared
In January 2027, Snapchat archives Memories beyond 5 GB. To keep them, you can pay Snapchat, or export them and file them yourself. Here are the options, and what each one really does.

Stay with Snapchat or keep them yourself
- Snapchat storage plan
- 100 GB for $1.99 a month, or included in Snapchat+ ($3.99 a month). Nothing to do, but your memories stay in Snapchat, and you pay for as long as you want to open them.
- Export
- Free, from Snapchat's "My Data" page (the guide). You get your own copy, but in a mess: rough dates, no places, stickers apart, split videos. That is what the tools below fix.
Tools to file the export
| Tool | Devices | Price | Free trial | What it says it does |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rembobino | iPhone, Mac, Windows | €5.99 once | 250 memories | Date and local time of the place, place on the map, stickers back on photos and videos, split videos joined, no duplicates with the camera roll, all on the device |
| SC Memories Importer | iPhone | $3.99 once | Yes (limit not stated) | Original dates and locations, separate album |
| Memories import: Snap Backup | iPhone | $4.99 once | Not stated | Imports the .zip into the camera roll, on the iPhone |
| Memport | iPhone, Android | $9.99 once | Yes | Restores memories, no account |
| SnapRescue | Mac, Windows, Android | $9.99 once | 100 files | Restores memories; iPhone version in development |
| FixMyExport | Mac, Windows, iPhone, Android | $14.99 once | 200 files | Dates and EXIF metadata written into the files |
| Free scripts | Computer (terminal) | Free | — | Varies: often the date only; check local time, stickers and videos |
What Rembobino does on top
- No computer
- It all works on iPhone: a built-in guide shows where to request your export from Snapchat, then you open the .zip files in the app. Also on Mac and Windows.
- No duplicates
- On iPhone, memories Snapchat already put in your camera roll are recognized: keep them, or replace them with the version that has the place. A memory already added is never added twice.
- Its own album
- On iPhone and Mac, everything lands in its own Photos album, so on all your devices with iCloud Photos. On Windows, in a folder sorted by date.
- Big exports
- File by file, pausing if the iPhone runs low on space, and resuming on its own if the import is interrupted.
- Your Rewind
- A card to share that sums up your Snap years: first memory, cities and countries, farthest place, record year.
- Private
- No account, no Snapchat login, no photo uploaded. The iPhone app is in English, French, German, Spanish, Dutch and Arabic; Mac and Windows in English and French.
What to check before you choose
- Local time
- The export gives times in UTC. A tool that does not convert them to the local time of the place leaves nights out and trips on the wrong day. The date problem
- Place
- It is only in the JSON file: without a tool, no memory shows up on the Photos map.
- Stickers
- They arrive as a separate overlay. Stickers and captions apart
- Long videos
- They arrive cut into 10-second pieces. Split videos
- Duplicates
- Snapchat may already have put some memories in your camera roll: a good tool recognizes them.
- Privacy
- Prefer a tool that does everything on your device, and never give your Snapchat password to a third-party service.
Frequently asked questions
What is the cheapest option?
Snapchat's export is free, and filing it by hand is too, if you have few memories. Beyond that, a tool paid once costs less than a few months of a Snapchat storage plan.
Do I need a computer?
No: several tools, Rembobino included, work right on the iPhone. On a computer, very large exports go faster.
